A 13-year-old girl was stabbed and wounded outside a Brooklyn subway station Sunday night as New York Police Department (NYPD) officers searched for three teenage suspects, authorities said.
The minor was stabbed in the abdomen near the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station in Prospect Heights at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The girl was rushed to Maimonides Children’s Hospital in stable condition, officials said.
No arrests have been made in the case, but detectives are on the trail of three teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18, the NYPD said.
It was not clear until then what caused the girl to be stabbed.
The crime comes as New York City faces a surge in violence among young people in recent months.
