A man opened fire on a woman and her nephew on a busy Delaware County, Pennsylvania, highway Monday afternoon in what authorities said was a road rage shooting.
Haverford Township Police say a man has been arrested following a shooting that took place on the east side of West Chester Pike in Delaware County.
At about 3:27 p.m., officers were called to the 2000 block of West Chester Pike for a road rage shooting, Haverford Township Deputy Police Chief Joseph Hagan said.
When officers arrived, they located a white Jeep Cherokee with 13 bullet holes in the headlight, hood and windshield.
The woman behind the wheel of the Jeep was driving with her 10-year-old nephew in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
“The operator was injured by possible shrapnel or glass fragments, but the child was not,” police said. “They were taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.”
“We are fortunate that the victim only suffered minor injuries and that nothing happened to his 10-year-old nephew who was in the car,” Hagan said. “It could have been much worse, someone could have been killed on West Chester Pike.”
As officers responded, they learned the suspected gunman was driving a black Lincoln pickup truck, which was last seen heading east on West Chester Pike, authorities said.
The man, identified as Sean Moses, was later arrested and taken into police custody. Officers also recovered a gun that was in the shooter’s front seat.
The driver, whom Hagan described as “calm, cool and collected,” was able to identify Moses after he was arrested.
Moses, 30, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related charges, police said.
Officials believe an earlier incident may have led to the shooting. Witnesses said the black Lincoln pickup truck pulled into the path of the Jeep and that’s when the shooting began, Hagan said.
“On West Chester Pike, in the middle of the day, that’s where accidents happen most often,” Hagan said. “In the case of 13, 12, that we know of, possibly 13 shots fired in one accident, it’s incredibly dangerous.”
