Comedian and host Ellen DeGeneres just scored another big win in the real estate market. She just received $96 million for a mansion in Carpinteria, California, which she purchased in December 2022.
The lucky buyer of the property is tycoon Robert Friedland, who is the president of the mining company Ivanhoe Mines. He is also known for having been a business mentor to the late Steve Jobs, co-founder and CEO of Apple.
The best part of this transaction is that the comedian and her wife Portia de Rossi managed to sell the place for much more than what they initially invested. The couple paid $70 million for the place. It should be noted that this figure was the total they agreed to pay for two neighboring properties, which are now one.
Another factor that stands out about this transaction is that Friedland had already purchased another property from DeGeneres during the first quarter of this year. The businessman paid $32 million for the house in Montecito.
Back to the newly sold property, it should be said that it occupies a 10-acre lot and the best part is that the lot is close to the beach. At the time, DeGeneres paid $41.7 million for the lot with a mansion included and $28.2 million for the lot next door that currently has no buildings on it.
The existing home spans 9,066 square feet on three floors with five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a foyer, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, wine cellar, movie theater and other amenities.
This structure draws attention with its high ceilings, beige and terracotta décor, hardwood floors, stone and marble arches, and more.
It is not known what plans the new owner has for the residence, but what is certain is that the property includes several amenities and luxuries such as a swimming pool with marble mosaics, two spa areas, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit and a private beach. The entire main structure is surrounded by green areas with large olive trees and other types of plants.
