Singer Paty Navidad recalled the day she visited the home of drug trafficker Arturo Beltrán Leyva. Her statement comes at a critical moment, as she confronted journalist Anabel Hernández for including her in her book ‘Las señoras del narco’.
During an interview with the program ‘Al Rojo Vivo’, the famous woman commented that it is true that she went to sing at the famous man’s house.
However, she accepted the proposal because a group of women approached her and told her that there was someone who was a fan of hers and who was very sick and would like to hear her perform live.
“A group of very pretty women approached me to tell me that they had an uncle who was a fan of mine, that he would do anything to meet me, that he had been very ill, and they painted a dramatic picture for me,” he recalled.
When he arrived at the site, he saw that it was not someone old or sick, as he had been told: “It was this man, known as Arturo Beltrán Leyva.”
Paty Navidad said she was not afraid, but was asked how much she was paid to be with the drug trafficker. “Sometimes I feel that people who are involved in this type of thing are stigmatized too much, but I speak from my experience. Indeed, what Anabel tells in the book is very similar to what happened, because there was this woman who told her and the woman who told her knows that nothing happened, that I left there defending my dignity, my integrity and my values,” she added.
For her part, Anabel Hernández said she will continue researching to publish new information through her books and podcast.
In a statement, he said he has always believed that journalists cannot remain silent in the face of complicity in the criminal system. “I have worked for more than 30 years as an investigative journalist and have distinguished myself for my books on drug cartels and corruption at the highest levels of government,” he said.
