Colombian actor Daniel Arenas used his Instagram account to support the people of Venezuela, who have gone through difficult days after the presidential elections, in which Nicolás Maduro was awarded the victory, but the country’s opposition believes that the result is not faithful to the will of the Venezuelans, since they claim that the winner was Edmundo González Urrutia.
This situation has led many personalities to speak out about the situation in the South American country, especially due to the worldwide protest that will take place this Saturday to demand respect for the results.
One of those who has joined the wave of messages in support of the Venezuelan cause is the former host of the program ‘Hoy Día’, who left an emotional post on the subject on his profile.
“Today I want to publish this not as a Colombian or Mexican or Latino but as a citizen of the world. Today I am Venezuela, enough of so much injustice and so much tyranny,” he wrote at the beginning of the post.
After this, Daniel Arenas commented: “We are going to raise our voices and show the world that Venezuela is not alone. I use my networks as I want, in my own way and in my own style, whether you like it or not, bye.”
He clarified that this is a post to demand respect for the will of Venezuelans: “For me, this is not a political or government issue, it is a matter of humanity, of human rights, of justice. And the day I have to do it for my Colombia or for Mexico and the United States, which are the countries that have given me everything up to now, I will do it. Let us build, let us unite, it is time.”
The situation in Venezuela has reached a difficult juncture, as several governments consider it necessary to show the minutes of the presidential elections. This is to prove Maduro’s supposed victory.
However, the authorities referred the matter to the Supreme Court of Justice, which will be in charge of certifying the result. This action has been rejected in the country, as it would demonstrate that there is no separation of powers nor respect for institutions, something that would complicate the already difficult situation in Venezuela.
