Sergio Mayer, 58, took off his stylish suits to face one of the most complex challenges in the world of reality shows in “La Isla: Desafío Extremo”. This particular format is proving to be not for everyone, the demands of the circuits are tenacious, but sometimes it is the inclement weather and the environment that really seem the most difficult to overcome.

We were able to speak with the renowned actor, singer and businessman during his competition process and he explained to us that this challenge has been “very difficult, very complicated, but also a great honor.”
I think the player who follows me in age is almost twice my age… I have to be at their level, they have great experience: physical strength, mental strength and so on.
Sergio Mayer says that being able to let go of his comfort zone and know how far he can perform both physically and mentally is very valuable to him. He likes to see how at his age he takes on extreme challenges and challenges that follow the same trend. He knows that in this program everything is more intense because you are forced to endure hunger and cold among many other things, which in the end will leave him much stronger as a person.

He says that each circuit has something special and unique. He likes to sit down and reflect after having completed one of them, in order to learn from them and how to solve them. “I always ask myself, why didn’t I do this or that?” says Sergio. But he has also realised that on many others you need a lot of strength, strategy and peace of mind.

For the actor, it is important to show that fears, personal frustrations or even age are not an impediment to conquering any challenge. “I am about to turn 60 and I am here sharing with some young people between 20 and/or 30 years old,” says Mayer. For Mayer, this program is an example for young people about the values of life itself and how it is important to take care of yourself in order to be able to perform well at this age.
