Venezuelan police on Saturday seized the truck belonging to the largest opposition coalition in which María Corina Machado and other politicians were traveling during a demonstration in Caracas in defense of the verification of the results of the presidential elections, which the anti-Chavez bloc claims was won by Edmundo González Urrutia, according to a complaint from the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD).

At the end of the demonstration, the opposition command denounced, through X, that the “regime stole the truck used by María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia for events and mobilizations throughout the country” during the campaign and in subsequent activities.

“This happened today after the rally in Caracas, when the event had already ended and we were preparing to protect the vehicle,” the PUD command reported.

In this regard, the lawyer and advisor to the opposition bloc, Perkins Rocha, said that, despite the fact that they “stole” the truck, “what they cannot steal is the love of the people for María Corina or the desire for freedom that she unleashed in Venezuelans,” who, according to the opposition, elected González Urrutia as president, despite the result announced by the pro-government National Electoral Council (CNE), which declared Nicolás Maduro the winner.

Meanwhile, Machado’s campaign chief, Magalli Meda, who is sheltered in the residence of the Argentine Embassy – under the protection of Brazil after the diplomatic corps of the southern nation was expelled from Caracas – said on X that whoever “stole” the truck “will regret it very much.”

“It’s not a truck, it’s a national sentiment (…). Thank you to the person who donated it with so much love to Venezuela,” said the opposition member, referring to the supporter who donated the vehicle for the campaign.

THE REGIME STEALS OUR TRUCK! It leaves loaded with love, hope, light, it takes the hugs of our children and the strength of truth. Whoever stole it will regret it a lot. For his part, opposition member Juan Pablo Guanipa stated, after the complaint about the “theft” of the truck, that these practices were carried out “throughout the campaign”, when the Government – according to the PUD – detained several drivers of the vehicles that Machado and González Urrutia used to transport themselves in their campaign events.
