Boxer Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez is in the midst of his preparation for the fight on September 14 against Puerto Rican Edgar Berlanga at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and that is why this Monday, during an interview, he said that Julio César Chávez Jr. could appear on the card, and he said he was happy to see him doing well.
In a recent visit to the El Show de Piolín podcast, Canelo Álvarez appeared to promote the fight but also to talk about Julio César Chávez, with whom he hopes to finish closing his agreement so that he can get into the ring in September.
“Let’s hope he can be there (Chávez Jr.); I am very happy that he is rehabilitated and that he sees all this as a rehabilitation; a motivation. I am very happy and I hope it continues like this because we all have our process, we all learn from something, let’s hope that he has already had his process and has learned and is one hundred percent recovered,” said the Guadalajara native.
Canelo Álvarez then complemented the comment by explaining that part of the improvement of Chávez Jr., who had to be hospitalized due to his drug addiction, is due to the support of his entire family.
“I am very happy to see him well, that he is well with his family because it is very important, more than anything, more than his family, more than anything, he has to be well with himself to be able to be well around him. I am very happy to see him training, to see that he fought, that he is recovering and that day by day, moment by moment, he is living and that everything is going to be very well,” added the Tapatio about the man who was his rival in 2017.
If he does not close a duel on the Álvarez vs. Berlanga card, it is expected that Chávez Jr. will be able to make another of the rumors that he was linked to with names like Jake Paul or Mike Tyson to fight against the son of the Great Champion come true.
