Carlos Calderón, who officially joined the team of hosts of ‘Hoy Día’ on Telemundo a week ago, has shared his thoughts on his transition and his relationship with his former colleagues from the Univision morning show. In an exclusive interview with People en Español, he reflected on his experience a year and a half since leaving the channel.

The presenter mentions that, although he has taken a different path, he still maintains a special affection for his former colleagues, but this time he maintains a healthy competition for the ratings that are disputed by Telemundo and Univision, which has definitely changed in recent days.

“I like it. Now that the Olympics were on, I saw many competitors from the same countries who were obviously friends and who were obviously part of the team, and who were relentless in their competitions and went against each other and at the end they celebrated. I hope they celebrate my victory. I have received some messages from former teammates congratulating me, which I really appreciate,” she told the magazine.

Calderón also mentions how it has been to adapt to the new dynamics on ‘Hoy Día’, where he feels excited to be able to share new stories and connect with the audience. Although the competition is real, he says that this does not alter the affection he feels for his former colleagues.

“As always, I wish them lots of love and happiness because if they are family, whether you like it or not, these jobs bring you closer to those people. But there is definitely the desire to be competitive, and we have achieved it. I understand that for the first time in the history of the program we have surpassed Despierta América on several occasions and I am very proud to have been able to contribute to those numbers and I suppose their eyes must have been opened and they must have been surprised. But they knew what they let go and now we do what we can,” added the presenter.

Calderón is optimistic and enthusiastic about this new stage in his career, showing that his spirit of collaboration and friendship remains intact, despite being on different networks. His focus is on moving forward and providing quality content, without losing sight of the camaraderie he has cultivated.

“I can tell you that I have contact on social media more than anything. I have received contact mainly from Karla Martínez. She is always very kind. We have known each other since I started my career, we practically started together at Univision about two decades ago, so I know that she knows what I have worked on and we have that contact. The rest of us, well, we have also had some likes through social media,” he mentioned to ‘People en Español’.
