Galilea Montijo shared a personal experience that had a significant impact on her life, related to the education she received from her mother Rebeca Torres. She also recalled that her mother, by encouraging sexist attitudes and showing preference for her brother Omar, instilled in her the idea that “women have to serve men.” Faced with this, the host did not hesitate to confront her mother and defend her position, fighting against the belief that she should serve her brother.

“My mother has always been partial to my brother (Omar). I am the oldest and she has always been partial to my brother. There was no food, but there was money for the boy’s classes because ‘he was very stressed’ and since I was little I would say ‘but why all of him?’. (My mother would tell me) ‘if you are going out, wash your brother’s clothes’. (I would ask him) ‘why do I have to cook?’. He would answer ‘because that’s how it is’,” she began by saying on the program ‘Netas Divinas’.

As time went by, she took a firm stance against these ideologies and decided that, as the mother of a son named Mateo, she wanted to raise him with values of respect for women. Galilea emphasized the responsibility that mothers have to raise children who understand the importance of equality and respect, avoiding perpetuating sexist attitudes that affect women.

“(My mother told me) ‘because women have to serve men’ and I fought a lot with my mother for this reason. As I grew up I defended my position,” added the television presenter.

Her reflection highlights the need to question and challenge cultural norms that devalue women and the importance of fostering an education that promotes respect and equality from an early age.

Before ending the topic, she added: “I always thought that one day I would be a mother, and I knew that I would be the mother of a boy. The responsibility falls heavily on us mothers to raise boys or to ensure that boys are raised as men.”
