The Mexican regional music singer, Natanael Cano, was linked to the trial for the crime of bribery, according to a statement shared on his X account by the Attorney General’s Office of Sonora.
The singer of corridos tumbados is being accused of bribing police in Hermosillo, and will have to appear in court periodically, due to the events that took place in Hermosillo on March 29 and were spread on social media.

Hermosillo, Sonora, August 19, 2024.- The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) obtained from a Judge the linkage to the process of Natanael Rubén “N” for the alleged crime of bribery, in addition he will be prohibited from leaving the country without judicial authorization and must sign in a Court periodically, this due to the events recorded in Hermosillo on March 29 and that were disseminated on social networks,” the statement begins.
According to the publication, Natanael Cano was driving his vehicle without license plates and at high speed, so when he was stopped, he allegedly gave money as a bribe so that the officers would not issue him any violations or proceed with his arrest.
“The defendant was driving a recent model red Dodge Charger vehicle without license plates at excessive speed on José María Morelos Boulevard in Hermosillo, Sonora, when he was contacted by officers in an official Hermosillo Municipal Police unit.
At that time, the person responsible probably gave money or a bribe to the police officers so that they would refrain from carrying out just acts to his detriment, as a result of their duties.
Subsequently, Natanael Rubén “N” continued driving the aforementioned motor unit at high speed, which caused a chase with municipal patrols, until the driver stopped without the agents taking any action to stop him,” they added.
The specific details of the case are still being investigated, and authorities are ensuring that Natanael receives the appropriate sanctions.
“The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) continues with the process so that the courts apply the sanctions in accordance with the law,” the letter concludes.
