The renowned sheikh and main boxing promoter in Saudi Arabia, Turki Al-Alshikh, revealed his fervent desire to be able to put together a boxing card outside of his native country and one of the nations he has in mind is precisely Mexico; this decision is due to the great sporting power that the Aztec country possesses and he emphasized that he is very interested in putting together a large-scale event.

Turki made these statements during an interview with The Stomping Ground, where he explained that he has created a very good relationship with the historic boxer Oscar de la Hoya and his promoter Golden Boy Promotions; he also highlighted that this figure will fully support him in his planning and development of a card in Aztec territory to promote the sport in the country.

“We have a great relationship with Golden Boy and there are many surprises coming in the future with a big card, and we want a long relationship with them, not just for one card. And I think we are going to support them not only for cards in Saudi Arabia, but also outside of Saudi Arabia. We also want cards in the United States and Mexico,” he said.

During the interview, the Sheikh explained that there are several countries in which he plans to organize a boxing event by 2025, in addition to Saudi Arabia, with the aim of bringing boxing to the entire planet. Among the possibilities are also the United States and England, countries in which he has already held some events.

“In the future we are thinking of doing something again in the United States, again in England, we want Mexico, Australia, China. We will try something in Germany,” added the Saudi sheikh.

To date, Turki Al-Alshikh has not revealed any names of potential boxers for these fights; despite that, over the past year he has shown a deep interest in the career of William “Camarón” Zepeda, whom he is looking to get a mega fight against Shakur Stevenson.
