Authorities are searching for Stanley Kotowski, a 60-year-old Massachusetts man who disappeared last Friday while on vacation with his family in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Kotowski was last seen leaving the vacation home without any personal items, such as his phone or wallet, and is believed to be barefoot. Authorities and his family are concerned for his well-being due to his recent struggle with anxiety, ABC News reported.
Kotowski’s family said he had been dealing with severe anxiety and bouts of insomnia for the past month. Jackie Kotowski, his wife, said his anxiety had worsened, leading to a paranoid state.
Meanwhile, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Master Sergeant Daniel Allen said Kotowski was reported missing approximately two hours after he was last seen.
Because of his mental state and the length of time he has been missing, he is considered an endangered person. Authorities have used air, land and water resources in their search efforts, but have so far been unsuccessful in locating him.
Kotowski is approximately 6 feet tall, weighs about 200 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes, and speaks with a thick Boston accent. He was last seen wearing a gray Coors Light T-shirt, dark shorts, and was barefoot.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s office at 843-524-2777.
