Due to the economic problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, several states in the United States decided to create special stimulus check programs to help people who need it most.
These programs are still providing monthly checks of $500 to certain groups, such as low-income families, entrepreneurs, and young parents, to provide them with ongoing financial support to help alleviate their expenses and improve their long-term economic stability.
Financial Assistance Programs in California
In California, several programs were designed to help different communities.
The Long Beach Pledge program, for example, provides $500 per month for one year to 200 low-income families with children in Long Beach.
This program is designed to alleviate the economic pressure these families currently face and help them create a more secure financial foundation for their future.
Another major program in California is Elevate MV in Mountain View, which began in December 2022 and will continue through December 2024.
This program provides $500 per month to low-income parents, allowing them to focus more on their own and their children’s well-being.
In Sonoma County, the Pathway to Income Equity program provides $500 per month to 305 families from January 2023 to January 2025, with the goal of improving the economic stability of these families for two years.
Supporting Entrepreneurs and Mothers in Michigan
In Michigan, programs have been implemented to support low-income entrepreneurs and new mothers.
The Guaranteed Income to Grow program in Ann Arbor provides $528 per month to about 100 low-income entrepreneurs from 2024 to 2025.
This support helps keep small businesses afloat, contributing to the economic growth of the community.
In Flint, the Rx Kids program supports new and expectant mothers by providing initial financial support followed by monthly checks, ensuring that these mothers have the resources they need to care for their children in the first months of life.
Supporting young parents in New Mexico
In New Mexico, the Learn, Earn, Achieve program in Santa Fe supports 98 young parents studying at Santa Fe Community College by giving them $400 per month from January 2024 through spring 2025.
This program is designed to help young parents who are studying by giving them financial support so they can continue their education without worrying so much about money.
By helping these parents finish their studies, not only their families benefit, but also the community, as they will have better job opportunities in the future and contribute more to the growth of the community.
