Since January 2023, when Cristiano Ronaldo accepted a million-dollar contract to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, many players began to be seduced by the incredible sums of money that even tripled their salaries at European clubs.

However, it seems that not all footballers can be attracted by high salaries and recently we saw Paulo Dybala. The Argentine received an incredible offer to leave Roma in Italy and sign for Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, but he ended up rejecting it to stay in Europe.

The offer that Al Qadsiah put on the table for Dybala was $80 million for three seasons. That translates to just over $25 million per year, a much higher salary than he currently earns with Roma.

This offer even increased the Argentine’s salary in the Italian capital by five times. At the “Loba”, as the club is often nicknamed, he received only $5 million dollars per season. Therefore, the rejection of this offer has to do with sporting matters.

Dybala joined Roma in the summer of 2022 after his contract with Juventus ended and did not renew. The Roman club therefore signed him as a free agent.

Since then, the world champion with Argentina has played 78 matches for Roma. He scored 34 goals and provided 18 assists. He also coached José Mourinho and was key in the European final, which the team lost on penalties to Sevilla.

For now, Dybala will remain a Roma player, with whom he has a contract until the end of this season. But there could be an extension before his contract with the club ends.
