Historic American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face John Gotti III this Saturday in an intense rematch that will take place in Mexico City with the aim of proving that he is still one of the best fighters of the modern era inside the boxing ring.

During the first fight, both boxers demonstrated a real pitched battle; despite this, one of the biggest concerns for the team is security and for this reason at least 600 security personnel are expected to be present at the complex to keep the situation under control and avoid outbreaks of violence that could affect the health of the fighters.

“Mexican law, from what I was told, is that for every 25 fans there has to be one security person. For a place of that magnitude, you’ll need around 600 security members. That answered my concerns,” said John Gotti Jr., Gotti III’s father, during an interview with DAZN. He made these words with a clear display of joy at the work done by the organization to provide the best security for everyone.

This initiative aims to avoid what happened in June 2023 during the first duel between Mayweather and his challenger held in Florida, United States, where Gotti III launched himself against ‘Money’ after disagreeing with the referee’s decision to end the fight in the sixth round; this fact caused the teams on both sides of the ring to fight to separate them and chaos ended up breaking out.

“We are going to go back and talk about security issues, and they will explain to us how it is set up. We will have images of the security deployed. And everything will be kept under control, if they have ten (security passes), we have ten; if they have eight, we have eight, there has to be a limit,” added Gotti III’s father.

John Gotti Jr. ended his statements by saying that despite being worried, he feels confident that the problem his son had against Mayweather last year will not happen again and he will only be focused on being able to defeat him during the corresponding rounds.

“In our case, we are street fighters at heart. But your family is at stake here, I have many concerns. What happened in Miami, Florida, simply cannot happen again,” he concluded.
