Naresh Kumar (62) and his wife Upma Sharma (54) were found fatally shot in their home in Connecticut, in an apparent case of murder suicide.
The Indian-born couple had lived in East Hartford for several years, East Hartford Police Department spokesman Marc Caruso said, according to the newspaper. Hartford Courant.
Authorities were called Wednesday night to the marital home at 140 Hilltop Farms Lane to investigate a report of gunshots. When officers arrived at the residence around 10:30 p.m. they found the couple suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, both Kumar and Sharma were pronounced dead at the scene, Caruso said.
“A firearm was recovered,” he added, noting that the gun was found near the bodies and was legally registered in Kumar’s name. A third person who was in the house at the time was not physically injured.
Investigators have since uncovered evidence suggesting a fight broke out between the victims just before the deadly violence, Caruso said. Kumar is suspected of shooting and killing Sharma before turning the gun on himself, but police declined to provide further details, he said. Daily News.
