Mexican driver for the Red Bull team, Sergio “Checo” Pérez, spoke this Sunday about his sixth place in the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix and said that part of his result was due to failures in the tires he used.
Speaking after the race, Pérez explained that the wear on his tyres was fundamental and prevented him from gaining more positions, but he also believes that he already knows what is affecting the Red Bull car and thanks to this it will be possible to work to try to continue improving.
“We have an understanding of what is happening with the car, we have confirmed it in this race after the previous sensations and I hope it is a matter of time to solve it,” said the driver from Guadalajara in statements to DAZN.
After giving his impressions, he spoke about what is to come with the Monza Grand Prix, hoping to be able to correct the mistakes that he and his team made throughout the weekend.
“Now we are going to a totally different race in Monza, with very different requirements and we will see if we can be better,” stressed Pérez, who stressed that he suffered a lot in turns nine and ten and acknowledged that it was “a difficult day.”
Pérez is currently seventh in the drivers’ championship with 139 points and is 15 behind Britain’s Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), after a race in which despite starting fifth, he was unable to maintain that position and dropped one place in the final table led by driver Lando Norris.
