In 2022, actress Scarlett Johansson and her husband Colin Jost visited a luxurious penthouse in Carnegie Hill, New York, with the intention of buying it, but they did not. Now it has been reported that the contract for the sale of the place is finally being closed.
The property was initially available for $23 million, but over time its price was lowered to $19.5 million. That is the last figure it was listed for on the market, although it is not known how much the purchase was signed for.
This property is undoubtedly a great attraction in the city because it is located within the building The Wales, but it may have been difficult to find a buyer because one of the conditions for sale is that it must be paid in cash. According to the ‘New York Post’ this rule has been spread by the developer of the luxury building itself.
It should be remembered that The Wales was recently opened as a residential building, having previously been a luxury hotel built in 1899.
The penthouse has an area of almost 4,000 square feet distributed in five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a hall, a living room, a main room, a dining room, a kitchen, a laundry room and other amenities. Additionally, there is a second floor with an impressive terrace.
The property also features a private elevator, hardwood floors, large windows with city views, curved staircase, coffered ceilings and more. The place currently has interior decoration by the design firm Pinto, but the new owners will be free to redesign it to their liking.
The second-floor terrace offers privileged views of New York, plus there are comfortable seating, dining, fireplace and barbecue areas.
Owners will now also be required to pay a monthly fee of $9,293 to cover the building’s common amenities and luxuries. Amenities include a gym, pet spa, private storage for each resident, and more.
