The head of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE), Juan Carlos Delpino, expressed this morning his concerns about what happened during the electoral process of July 28, and questioned the result that declared Nicolás Maduro the winner.
In a statement on his X account, Delpino stressed that he has no evidence to support the results of the July 28 elections, since he did not participate in the totalization room. He stated that his decision not to attend the proclamation of the results was based on the lack of evidence and his disagreement with the electoral process.
The rector added that although the electoral process began with few incidents, serious problems arose after the closing of the polling stations. He said there were violations of essential rules and regulations, including the eviction of opposition witnesses.
Delpino also questioned the lack of transparency in the transmission of results and the delay in issuing the first bulletin, which was reduced to 58% effectiveness. He also addressed the lack of timely publication of the results table by table and the suspension of crucial audits.
The rector stressed the need for a thorough review of the electoral process by international observers and electoral technicians.
In the final part of his statement, he mentioned his absence from the call related to the appeal filed before the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), and gave his reasons for why he did not attend.
“I did not attend the meeting, as I believe that the conflict should be resolved within the electoral body itself,” he said.
