Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will give their first interview together since accepting the nomination, which will air Thursday, August 29 on CNN.
CNN reported on the details of the first interview with the Democratic candidates, where it specified that it will be conducted by CNN’s head of Politics and presenter, Dana Bash, and will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m. local time (01:00 GMT on Friday).
The interview will take place as Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are on a bus tour of Georgia, one of the key states for winning the presidency in the November 5 vote.
The first one in front of a journalist
Harris has already given a few interviews with content creators and answered random questions from reporters at various events, but her CNN interview will be the first time she has sat down with a reporter “for a deep conversation” since President Joe Biden announced on July 21 that he was withdrawing from the race for the White House and named her as his successor.
This delay in speaking to a journalist has been criticized by Republicans, both by former president and candidate Donald Trump and by his “number two,” Ohio Senator JD Vance, who have participated in several meetings with the media.
“He is avoiding the press for a reason”
“It’s been 37 days since Joe Biden was removed, and Kamala Harris was named the Democratic nominee. Kamala has yet to give a single interview. She is avoiding the press for a reason. She doesn’t want to talk about her radical agenda,” the Republican campaign said Tuesday before CNN announced its exclusive.
Upcoming candidate debates
It is worth noting that the next presidential debate between presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The information was confirmed on Friday by the organizing network ABC, which indicated that the event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10 at 9:00 p.m.
The debate will be held at the National Constitution Center, a leading constitutional think tank located near the site where the U.S. Constitution was drafted and signed.
Minnesota Governor and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has confirmed his participation in the debate with Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance. The debate will be hosted by CBS News and is scheduled for October 1 in New York City.
