El Gordo y la Flaca, according to Javier Ceriani on Chisme No Like, could be experiencing a “lean period” for the first time in relation to the ratings compared to Telemundo.

The show hosted by Lili Estefan and Raúl de Molina has been unable to improve its ratings for several weeks compared to the competing programming that hosts Al Rojo Vivo, a program hosted by Jéssica Carrillo and Lourdes Stephen, at the same time slot.

The fight for ratings

The competition between Telemundo and Univision for the public’s preference could be evenly matched in relation to the success of certain programs such as “En Casa con Telemundo” and “Al Rojo Vivo.” Meanwhile, Univision is always positioned as the leader in the mornings with its morning program “Despierta América” in relation to “Hoy Día,” according to Ceriani with data from Nielsen.

It is important to point out that there are many factors that have served to boost the success of certain programs on Telemundo and one of them is the impact that “La Casa de los Famosos” always generates in the general programming of the network. Especially because with the last edition many of its inhabitants managed, some, to consolidate their careers like Maripily Rivera, while others were able to start in this industry as true darlings, such is the case of Rodrigo Romeh, Guty Carrera, Cristina Porta, among others.

But even those who lost their good image continue to be news and make headlines, among them are Clovis Nienow, Aleska Génesis, La Melaza, Lupillo Rivera among others.

All of the above favors these Telemundo programs when they decide to have them as guest hosts. The same happens with those characters who manage to steal the affection of fans in formats such as Top Chef VIP, Los 50 and now “La Isla: Desafío Extremo”, all products of the network with actors or artists of different nationalities, which allows them to reach a representation, sometimes, much broader compared to that of Univision.

TelevisaUnivision, for its part, has the advantage of having all of Televisa’s artistic talents and productions in Mexico, which are part of its regular programming, such as soap operas, series, movies and entertainment programs. This is also of great interest to the Hispanic community.

Another important point to highlight in the case of Univision is that many of the programs they produce from Miami have a considerable longevity, which Telemundo has not managed to maintain. Of its lineup, the only one that has been on the air for longer is “Al Rojo Vivo,” which was created at the time by María Celeste Arrarás, who is no longer part of either the show or the television station.

The public also rewards the years on the air with loyalty, because Univision has known how to respect, in this sense, the taste of its viewers, for this reason they seem to be much more careful when making changes that could harm the viewer who decides to consume them daily. While in Telemundo the changes tend to be much more evident and from one day to the next as when they decided to do without personalities such as Rashel Díaz, Adamari López, Héctor Sandarti and Chiquibaby among others.
