In Peru, the scandal with footballer Christian Cueva is far from over. In the last few hours, a video appeared in which the player threatens his wife Pamela López so that she does not report the physical and psychological abuse she was a victim of.
The images, captured by a second security camera in the building, show one of the emblems of the Peruvian national team threatening his wife with the aim of dissuading her from filing a complaint with the authorities.
Although the events have only been public knowledge for two weeks, they date back to February 1 in a building in the city of Trujillo, Peru. The recordings show an enraged Cueva chasing López into the elevator.
The argument, which began with the discovery of an alleged episode of infidelity through bank transfer receipts, escalated when the woman asked the player to leave.
The video was released thanks to the program ‘Día D’ on Andina de Televisión (ATV). In the clip, the audio is fully audible and the dialogue between the couple can be seen in full.
“Look at the cameras there, I’m going to ask you to leave please. You just attacked me. I’m going to call the police. Leave,” López pleaded. It was at that moment that Cueva threatened him. “If you report it, it’s all over.”
For a few minutes, the couple argued under one premise. Pamela insistently asked Cueva to leave and he refused. In the end, the player ended up assaulting his wife inside the elevator and left only when the security guard timidly approached to intervene.
Pamela López was Christian Cueva’s partner for 12 years. In 2023, the player released a statement where he spoke about their separation. However, a few days ago the woman announced that she had filed a formal complaint for physical and psychological violence. She even went so far as to say that she fears for her life.
López’s complaint was made public at the same time that Cueva was presented as a new Cienciano player and was traveling to Lima to play a match in the Clausura Tournament of the Peruvian Liga 1.
After the scandal broke out and various videos of the attacks went viral, the team decided to fire Cueva, who had been waiting for a job opportunity in football for 10 months.
