The 2024 Major League Baseball season is proving to be quite a spectacle for captain Aaron Judge. The New York Yankees captain hit two home runs against the Colorado Rockies last Sunday to reach 51 this season.

Judge not only leads the Major Leagues in home run careers by 10 points over Shohei Ohtano, but he’s also starting to get closer to his own record, the one he set in 2022.

And in that season, “The Judge,” as he is often nicknamed, hit 62 home runs to set a new American League record for most home runs in a season. Now, in 2024, the Yankees star could break his own record and set a new mark.

The Yankees have 29 games left in the regular season. Judge will have to hit another 12 home runs during that period if he wants to break his and the league’s record of 63 homers in a season.

Judge’s pace at the end of August is simply astonishing. The Yankees slugger has hit seven home runs in his last nine games, five of them in a row, so his projections for the season have changed.

Taking into account the remaining games, Judge would have to hit a home run in 41% of these games to reach the long-awaited 63 homers.

To do so, he will have to face 10 series with 10 different franchises. And some of them have not yet received home runs from Judge this season. However, there is a good chance that the Yankees star will break the home run record again.

MVP on the way?

Home runs aren’t all Judge has been doing well this season. Just as he leads the Major Leagues in home runs, he also leads the RBI department.

Aaron has an incredible 122 RBIs so far this season. A figure that is also close to the 131 of 2022, the year in which he won the MVP, which suggests that the Bronx captain can take home the award again in 2024.
