A disappointing Real Madrid could only draw 1-1 in their visit to Las Palmas and, after just three LaLiga games, are already four points behind their great rivals, Barcelona.
After the draw in the first round in Mallorca, Real Madrid has 5 points, compared to 9 for Barcelona, who have achieved a perfect record.
Meanwhile, their star signing, Kyliam Mbappé, has yet to score in the first three games played by the Merengue team.
Following the hard-fought win over Valladolid last weekend, Carlo Ancelotti made four changes to the starting eleven, bringing on Brahim and Luka Modric in particular in midfield in the hope of improving their play and combining better with the forwards.
But just five minutes into the game, Alberto Moleiro surprised the white defence and beat Thibaut Courtois to open the scoring in favour of the Canaries.
Real Madrid did not perform well in the first half and only had a couple of chances to score, with long-range shots from Valverde and Rüdiger.
The equaliser came from the penalty spot, scored by Vinícius.
Mbappé still hasn’t scored for Real Madrid
French striker Kyliam Mbappé has once again shown that he lacks experience with his teammates and despite trying on several occasions, he still has not trained in LaLiga as a goalscorer.
This means that the striker has failed to score for the second time in his first three league games in his career.
The only precedent occurred with Monaco in his debut in France in the 2015-2016 season when he only scored in his fifth match in a match on the 27th round against Troyes and with little participation in the team. It should be noted that, during his seven seasons at PSG, he made his debut with a goal in five.
Considering the star signings that arrived at Real Madrid during Florentino Pérez’s presidency, the following made their debut in La Liga: Luis Figo, Ronaldo, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Jude Bellingham.
In their third match of the tournament, Zinedine Zidane and Karim Benzema scored, while Kaká, James Rodríguez and Hazard also scored in their fourth.
Ancelotti does not see a lack of attitude
Madrid have a football problem, not an attitude problem. This is how Ancelotti analysed the team’s state, which is so delicate that it is already alarming.
“I don’t see a lack of character or attitude. You just sometimes don’t find the best way to play,” he said.
And he said: “I have to be clearer about the strategy, to give clarity to the players. When there is a problem, it is the coach who must assume the responsibility of finding a solution. And I will do so.” A harsh x-ray with a brief conclusion: “It has been similar to Mallorca, I have not seen any improvement.”
“The game is slow, there is no movement, the ball reaches the forwards when the opposing team is closed, we struggle to find space between the lines… The problem is quite clear, we have to find a solution,” said Ancelotti after the match.
