If Tom Brady becomes owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, that could complicate his commentary contract with FOX.

An NFL spokesman said the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback will be prohibited from attending network meetings in person or remotely and will not be allowed access to team facilities around the league.

One advantage for Brady is that his interest in acquiring a percentage of ownership in the Raiders will not prevent him from appearing on the team’s broadcasts in Las Vegas. However, TB12 will not be able to openly criticize officials or other teams in public.

Tom Brady is not allowed key access typical for NFL broadcasters in his role as a Fox analyst as he awaits approval to become a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, a league source said Wednesday.

Brady has sought to invest in all possible sports, including English football with Premier League side Birmingham after retiring as a player, and the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. In the NFL, his goal is to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and his offer was registered in May 2023.

Brady signed a contract with FOX in 2022 in which he agreed to work 10 years with the network as its lead analyst in exchange for $375 million. His broadcast partner will be the experienced Kevin Burkhardt.

The seven-time Super Bowl winner’s first game as a FOX analyst will be the Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns matchup on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 4:25 p.m. ET (1:25 p.m. PT).

Aside from access restrictions, Brady is subject to other league policies applicable to and common to other owners:

He is prohibited from publicly criticizing game officials and other clubs. While Brady could, in theory, declare that he disagrees with a referee’s decision on air, he is subject to fines or even a suspension if he goes too far.

It is subject to the league’s playing policy.

He is subject to the league’s anti-tampering policies. He is only allowed “strictly social communication with members of other clubs,” according to the slide presented by the league.
