After leaving Pumas de la UNAM, Juan Ignacio Dinenno seems to be out of luck. Last Wednesday, in Cruzeiro’s draw against Internacional de Porto Alegre, the forward suffered a horrible injury.
The match ended goalless, but in the 23rd minute the Argentinean had to come on as a substitute. In a play where he was trying to protect the ball, Bruno Tabata hit his knee. The attacker fell to the ground and doubled over in pain while touching the area of the blow.
Medical services rushed to the field. In the video that has gone viral over the past few days, you can see the exact moment when Dinenno suffered the knee buckling.
The South American striker tried to force his way back onto the pitch, but to no avail. After a few seconds he turned around and asked for a substitution.
What happened to Juan Dinenno’s knee?
After being unable to continue the match, Cruzeiro executed the protocol. Dinenno underwent tests that determined an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The Argentine will miss the entire season. He will now have to undergo surgery and be out for at least six months. This was announced in a statement.
“The indication for this case is surgical treatment, which will be carried out in the next few days. The entire recovery process will be carried out in the Cruzeiro health and performance department,” the Brazilian club said.
After several years at Pumas de la UNAM and Liga MX, in January of this year, Dinenno embarked on a new path. He left for Cruzeiro in the Brasileirao. He managed to adapt and become a key player, but eight months later he was hit with a long-term injury.
