An assist from Néstor Araujo to Brian Rodríguez brightened up the night for Americanism. However, they would be defeated by a comeback of character. Cruz Azul came from behind, ended up beating the Eagles and the memes on social networks were merciless.

Goals in the locker room. Before the end of the first half, at 44′, Giakomaukis tied the score with an assist from Rotondi. However, a couple of minutes later before going to the locker room, Romo assisted Ángel Sepúlveda to break the tie.

The match became rocky. Yellow cards came and went. The game was broken in the 79th minute when Alexis Torres broke the net thanks to a through ball from Gonzalo Piovi. Inside the area, Hazael received the ball, hooked it and sent it to the back of the net near the left post.

In the 90th minute, the final blow to Jardine’s team came. Lorenzo Faravelli scored one of the best goals of the day. After receiving the ball, he positioned himself and fired a shot from more than 30 metres away that went past Malagón at half the height of the far post.

The comeback caused a stir on social media and memes and mockery were the order of the day. Through the X platform, users expressed their creativity.

FINALLY THEY CAN CELEBRATE SOMETHING!!😂⚽️

While Cruz Azul celebrates a normal game, América celebrates having won 4 Liga MX FINALS.

It’s normal that the son is happy when he beats his father, this game is already one more game for the eagles.🦅 pic.twitter.com/dJTWL3xBlq

The victory is a kind of revenge for Cruz Azul’s defeat against Club América on May 26. This result leaves ‘La Máquina Cementera’ as leaders of Mexican soccer with 16 points. Five games won and one draw.
