A man was left clinging to life Saturday after being hit and dragged by a truck and a yellow cab outside Central Park, authorities said.
A terrifying scene unfolded in Central Park around 6 a.m., the New York Police Department (NYPD) said.
The victim, believed to be homeless, was crossing the street when the truck struck him, witnesses told officials. He was then dragged several feet and, as he lay badly injured on the asphalt, a taxi ran over his body.
The back-to-back collisions occurred outside the park and just around the corner from the landmark Plaza Hotel, police said.
Paramedics transported the unidentified man to New York-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
The taxi driver remained on the scene. No charges have been filed at this time.
The truck driver fled the scene and is being sought.
