The drama between King Charles III and his brother Prince Andrew continues. The monarch wants Andrew to leave Royal Lodge, the property in the United Kingdom where he has lived for almost 20 years.

Prince Andrew is completely refusing to leave the property, saying that since he moved into the palace in 2004 he has spent millions on renovations. He says all the work has been done with his own money and not the crown’s.

One of the last moves made by King Charles III was to remove private security at Royal Lodge. Before that, the British monarchy had also decided to remove the £250,000 fee given to Prince Andrew. That money was used to support him and the property and this has meant that the residence is now practically abandoned with him inside.

The sexual abuse allegations Prince Andrew has faced in recent years also led to him being stripped of all his military titles and royal patronages.

Despite all this, Prince Andrew remains adamant about staying on the property. A source close to the royals told the Daily Beast that the prince’s plan is to bequeath the lease of Royal Lodge to his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. This means that they would keep the property after Andrew’s death.

The same source said: “It is a mystery why Charles wants this distraction at this point in his reign. It seems childish and vindictive as I don’t think anyone except Charles cares where Andrew lives.”

It should be noted that King Charles III intends for his brother to move into Frogmore Cottage, the property that was once home to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This property is currently still empty.
