For the third time in August, human bones were discovered near the waterfront of Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday, authorities said.
At around 7 p.m. Saturday, a person called 911 and reported finding bone fragments on rocks next to the water in Dumbo Park, a New York Police Department (NYPD) representative said.
A human skull was discovered near Jane’s Carousel at 9 a.m. on Aug. 19, officials said. Two days later, at 12:30 a.m., a leg bone fragment was found in the same area.
Police suspect all the bones belonged to the same person, the Daily News reported.
The medical examiner was at the scene Saturday and is comparing and examining all fragments of human remains, according to the NYPD.
The New York police also declined to comment further due to the ongoing investigation.
In January of this year, officers found the body of a 13-year-old girl face down on the shore near the Fulton Ferry Landing pier after she was found in the park, the police agency said.
