British singer Elton John revealed, through his official Instagram account, the “serious” infection he has been dealing with in recent weeks and which has considerably affected his vision.
According to the “Rocketman” singer’s statement, he has “dealt” with a “serious” eye infection that caused him to lose vision in one of his eyes.
Over the summer, I have been dealing with a serious eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.”
What infection does Elton John have?
In the same statement, the English singer did not specifically reveal the infection he is suffering from. However, he also mentioned that he is “healing” through an “extremely slow” process.
Likewise, and within the same publication, Elton John thanked his doctors as well as his family for their support and backing during this stage: “I am very grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken very good care of me during the past weeks.”
Following the publication of the interpreter of “Your Song”, various personalities from the world of entertainment expressed their support and encouragement towards the international star through comments.
Luminaries such as designer Donatella Versace and tennis legend Billie Jean King reacted to the announcement with words such as: “Sending you lots of love, Elton!”, “Sending you our love and support. Get well soon, my friend,” and more.
Currently, and thanks to what the artist himself shared, Sir Elton is at home recovering.
This is not the first time the singer has faced clinical adversity. In previous years, Elton John has successfully recovered from prostate cancer, a hip infection, a severe post-operative reaction, and more.
During 2023, the “Crocodile Rock” singer carried out his farewell tour called “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” around the world, managing to raise more than $900 million dollars. This figure, so far, places the Englishman’s tour as the second highest-grossing of all time with its 328 shows.
Similarly, in 2019, the life of the British singer reached theaters through the film “Rocketman,” starring actor Taron Egerton, who won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical Film during the 2020 Golden Globes.
