Colombian singer Karol G became a topic of debate on social media after the release of the song “Vivo Por Ella” (“Vivo Per Lei”), her first collaboration with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.

The duet between the singers, which is part of Bocelli’s album “Duets” to celebrate his 30-year career, has been praised by great representatives of international music such as Ricardo Montaner and Marta Sánchez, who even congratulated the performers through her official Instagram account, in addition to praising the Colombian in a special way.

I wish you the best and that you enjoy such a special moment in your life. You are a guide for many and your essence is an inspiration.”

However, despite positive comments from Sánchez, Montaner and dozens of fans of the Colombian singer, Karol G was also severely criticized for allegedly “abusing” certain sound effects to give greater presence to her voice.

I know that many are offended that maestro Andrea Bocelli invited Karol G to sing “Vivo por ella” but look on the bright side, many reggaeton fans will now be interested in opera and real music thanks to this version.

Did Karol G overuse autotune?

According to comments collected by the media Cromos Magazine, the interpreter of “Mañana Será Bonito” was questioned regarding her vocal ability because, according to various users, she made use of the so-called autotune, an audio processor that seeks to “mask” inaccuracies and errors in a singer’s voice.

With messages like “It’s not for nothing, but that old lady’s autotune looks beautiful,” people pointed out the South American in a derogatory manner. Likewise, and within the same comments, Karol G was criticized for working with an artist from a very different genre than what she has done: “What is that way of doing singing with such an artist?”, “That girl shouldn’t be singing with an opera star; she continues to ruin music,” among other comments.

Despite the series of comments, the vast majority came from Colombian users, demonstrating the rejection that the interpreter of “QLONA” has in her own country.

The series of derogatory comments towards Karol G does not overshadow the great achievement obtained by the Colombian, who became one of the few representatives of Latin music to be part of Bocelli’s album, along with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.

Despite the end of her tour last July, the singer of “Provenza” will give one more show, this 2024, within the Rock in Rio festival, in the month of September in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
