Following the sudden death of Puerto Rican volleyball player Victoria Lopez, her body will be repatriated to the island from Turkey for a Christian burial. This was confirmed by the family just over 24 hours ago.
The athlete’s death left the family with sadness and bureaucracy. After the cause of death was determined following a preliminary autopsy report, the family was able to obtain the permit to repatriate López’s body.
However, they are awaiting the “Consular Mortuary Certificate” from the United States Embassy in Istanbul, which is the document required to authorize Pilar’s return to Puerto Rico.
Victoria played for Nilüfer Beledieyespor Bursa. In fact, at the time of her death she was in one of the team’s houses. Before her repatriation, the institution wanted to say goodbye to her with an emotional tribute in her honour, in which players, managers and coaches of the team participated.

What did he die of?
The preliminary autopsy report was released 24 hours ago. The final report could take a few months, but the expert report concluded that the young woman died of natural causes.
Pilar was found dead thanks to team members who began to worry about her absence. They went to her home in the Belediyespor clubhouse and found her without vital signs.
The 28-year-old was from a family with a long history of sporting careers. She was the daughter of former athletes Pilar López and Luis Ernesto Victoriá.
