FC Barcelona will once again wear a black shirt as their away kit for the 2024/25 season, marking the fourth time the club has adopted this colour
The team previously wore black shirts in the 2011/12, 2013/14 and 2020/21 seasons. On all these occasions, the reception by the fans was exceptional, consolidating black as an iconic colour in the club’s recent history, as stated by Barcelona itself on its website.
This return coincides with the celebration of the 125th anniversary of FC Barcelona, where black will once again be the protagonist of the second kit.
“The FC Barcelona 2024/25 away kit imagines what the kits of the future will look like, mixing Barça’s iconic stripes with a black base, allowing them to stand out. One of the key elements is the TPU crest, which goes from a reflective finish to a blacked-out crest, proudly placed between the blue and red borders,” reads the culé statement.
The debut of black as a colour for Barça’s away shirt occurred in the 2011/12 season under the management of Josep Guardiola. During that season, Barça won the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
In the 2013/14 season, the team again incorporated black into its kit, this time as a third jersey. Unlike the first, this version included yellow details, offering a distinctive design that captured the attention of fans.
Finally, in the 2020/21 season, Barça reintroduced black, this time as a second kit. That season’s version was completely black.
