At the end of Tuesday’s session, controversy erupted in Colombia. Footballer Rafael Enrique Pérez revealed that he had been the victim of extortion and that an intimate photo of him having sex with his wife had subsequently been leaked.
The couple and the Junior de Barranquilla centre-back refused to pay the bribe requested to not make the image public. For this reason, the photograph was released and has gone viral in the last few hours.
In their Instagram stories, the defender and Angie Jiménez explained that the photo was taken between 2016 and 2017. “We have received information that an intimate photo of us is circulating, a photo that, to be clear, is from about six or seven years ago,” they said.
How did it leak?
The player explained that the image was on a mobile device stolen from his wife. The photo was taken from there and was used to subject them to several extortion attacks.
“It was the result of a robbery that my wife suffered at that time and as a result of that, she has been the target of extortion attempts on several occasions for this image and we have certainly not wanted to agree,” he said.
Who is Rafael Perez?
Rafael Pérez was born on January 9, 1990 in Cartagena, Colombia. He began his professional career in 2009 with Real Cartagena, where he quickly stood out for his defensive ability. Along the way, he has played for several top teams, including Independiente Medellín and Santa Fe.
He has also played in the old continent, specifically at CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria, where he had significant international experience. In 2016, Rafael Pérez joined Junior de Barranquilla.
Throughout his time with Junior de Barranquilla, Rafael Pérez has played more than 150 matches. Despite being a central defender, he has managed to score around 10 goals, which is a remarkable figure for his position. In addition, he has contributed significantly to the team’s successes, helping Junior win several titles, including the Colombian League and the Superliga.
