Argentine footballer Ángel Di María will star in a documentary series on Netflix that will premiere on September 12. The production, titled Ángel Di María: Romper la pared, will be divided into three parts and promises to offer an “intimate and unpublished” account of his life and career, according to Netflix.
The documentary, produced by PEGSA, will address Di María’s sacrifices, frustrations and achievements, both on and off the pitch, showing “the man behind the athlete.” This series joins other Netflix biographical titles, such as the David Beckham series and the upcoming series on James Rodríguez.
The platform also released a promotional video in which figures such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr. and Rodrigo de Paul highlight the relevance of Di María.
Messi said: “I think people can learn a little more about Di Maria as a person, everything he lived and went through.” Neymar added that the documentary will show “everything he represents, not only for Argentina, but for his family and friends.”
Sergio Ramos also participates, pointing out that the series will show that “dreams can come true based on effort, sacrifice and perseverance.”
This documentary comes after Di María played his last match for Argentina in the Copa América final, and will be featured during the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Argentina and Chile.
