New York – The campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said Friday it raised $361 million in August and has about $404 million in cash on hand.
In a statement, the campaign said it had been the best month of grassroots fundraising in presidential history, nearly tripling the amount raised by its rival, former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Yesterday, the Trump campaign said it had raised $130 million in August and had about $300 million in cash on hand.
2,000 events this weekend
With 60 days to go until the November 5 election, and ahead of the first debate between the candidates on September 10 on ABC, the Harris-Walz team is planning its “biggest weekend of action” with some 2,000 events, the note adds.
This weekend’s action will focus on criticism of Trump’s alleged program of measures drawn up by ultra-conservative figures, “Project 2025”, which will be followed by an “aggressive” digital and television advertising campaign.
Harris’ team said it has raised $615 million since launching her bid in July, after President Joe Biden dropped out of re-election and the Democratic party and voters responded enthusiastically to her successor.
As in previous campaigns, the campaign highlighted the large number of women who are donating money to the Harris-Walz ticket, 60% in August, and noted that the vast majority of donations were less than $200.
Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez highlighted the broad and diverse support for Harris and said that in the final stretch of the election she will allocate every dollar to the voters who will “decide” who wins, referring to the swing states.
