The vocalist of the English band Oasis, Liam Gallagher, found himself in the “eye of the storm” after responding to various fans, through X, who complained about the failed ticket sales for the band’s comeback shows.
True to form, the 51-year-old British musician broke his silence after dozens of complaints about the high ticket prices to see the group at their shows in Britain and Ireland.
And just a few minutes after the first batch of tickets for Oasis’ initial shows went on sale, prices exceeded $7,000 dollars in resale mode.
In one of the comments, where a fan criticized the way in which tickets for the “Oasis Live 2025” tour were issued, the singer did not “tempt his heart” and responded to the comment with a “shut up,” showing that despite being attentive to his followers, he has not been responsible for the failed sales strategy.
Ticketmaster under investigation
In other comments, the European singer was also asked about what his mother, Peggy, thought about the meeting with his brother. To this, Liam replied that she was “devastated because she didn’t get a ticket.”
According to a large number of the band’s fans, the more than 10 hours they spent waiting in line for a ticket were in vain due to the tickets being sold out or the doubling of the “dynamic” pricing rates.
As a result of the above, and thanks to dozens of complaints, the UK Competition and Markets Authority announced on September 5 that Ticketmaster, the company in charge of distributing tickets for shows, will be investigated for a possible violation of consumer protection law.
The Oasis fever continues
Following the announcement of Oasis’ comeback, streaming platform Spotify revealed that the number of streams increased by 160% globally.
In addition to the above, and as a way of demonstrating the band’s impact and influence, the group’s debut album, Definitely Maybe, released 30 years ago, once again reached the top of the sales charts in the United Kingdom.
According to The Official Charts Company, the organisation that establishes the popularity rankings in the United Kingdom, this is the first time in 14 years that Oasis has reached the top position on the prestigious list.
