With just under 25 games left in the Major League Baseball regular season, the New York Mets remain in with a strong chance of making the playoffs, as they are currently holding on to a Wild Card spot in the National League.

One of the main reasons why the Queens team has maintained a good winning streak is thanks to Francisco Lindor. The Puerto Rican is having one of the best seasons of his career in the Major Leagues, and is also the leader of the New York team.

This leadership of Lindor is valued by his manager Carlos Mendoza. Who recently in an interview for MLB Network He highlighted Lindor’s great season and how much he has done for the Mets.

“I know there are a lot of great players doing great things for their teams this season. But what this guy (Lindor) has done for this franchise is in a class of his own, and that’s both on and off the field. When a special player is also a special person, in terms of his commitment and dedication, it’s a fantastic combination,” said the Mets manager.

“This is his fourth season with the Mets and it is very evident that this is his home now. New York is his home and his only focus is to be the best version of himself and be a leader on this team. I should add that I have never asked him to do all that. It is just natural for him; he has that kind of presence. And I can assure you that it drives his teammates,” concluded manager Mendoza.

Lindor is the leader in almost every department for the Mets. 157 hits, 30 home runs, 84 RBIs, 26 stolen bases and a .274 average rank him not only as the best on the team, but as one of the best this season in the National League.

Every time Lindor steps into the batter’s box at Citi Field, the New York fans can hear the chorus of “MVP, MVP, MVP.” They know that the Puerto Rican has all the tools to be a candidate for the award this season.

“This is New York. The noise here is very loud. But game after game, he quietly takes care of his job,” Mendoza concluded about the great year Lindor is having in the Major Leagues.
