Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez has 65 professional fights in his long career and in all this time he has only lost two of them. The first in 2013 against Floyd Mayweather and the other almost 10 years later against Dmitry Bivol in 2022.
On that occasion, the judges determined at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas that the Russian boxer was better than the Mexican and by unanimous decision Álvarez won his second fight in his almost 20-year career.
Since then, the boxer from Guadalajara has been looking for his revenge against Bivol. Although the Russian does not seem to have the slightest interest in giving Canelo another fight. So they have continued their careers with other fights.
However, Alvarez seems not to have forgotten this setback and wants his revenge. Although he has already had four fights after that defeat, he will seek at some point to repeat the duel he lost in May 2022.
Even recently in an interview for Boxing Scene Canelo Álvarez made it clear that although he continues with new fights, he has not forgotten the pending rematch against Bivol.
“I take it one fight at a time. Right now I am 100% focused on Berlanga and then there will be other rivals in the future. You never know. There is always a chance. If Bivol wins his next fight, I would like to take advantage of that opportunity for a rematch,” said the Guadalajara native.
The super middleweight world champion will step into the ring at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to face and defend his belts against Edgar Berlanga. And although his next fight is speculated to be against Terence Crawford or David Benavídez, he did not rule out the possibility of a return fight against Bivol.
Bivol, on the other hand, still has his next fight scheduled against Artur Beterbiev on October 12 in a fight for the undisputed light heavyweight title.
