Portugal coach Roberto Martinez praised his player Cristiano Ronaldo for his 900th goal in the Portuguese national team’s last game against Croatia, saying that there is nothing the striker can do.

In a press conference before Portugal’s UEFA Nations League clash with Scotland, Martínez explained Ronaldo’s feat and described it as historic, which could serve as a reference for future generations to fall in love with football.

“It’s a number for the future, but for us the important thing is now. Cristiano’s performance against Croatia was very important to open up space, to be able to win the match and work hard for the victory. I don’t think anyone can say that Cristiano can’t do something. It’s incredible what he’s doing in football,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo headed in the goal against Croatia, marking his 900th goal for clubs and national teams, 130 of which he scored for his national team.

After congratulating and acknowledging Cristiano’s work, Martínez said that the Al-Nassr striker also helps with assists and even dared to joke about it.

“If I could make 100 assists I would be very happy,” said the Spanish coach with a laugh.

Against Scotland, Cristiano Ronaldo will have the opportunity to start the road to end his career with 1,000 goals, a dream that seems difficult to achieve at 39 years of age, but with the former Real Madrid player everything is possible.
