Mexican singer Belinda surprised everyone who attended her recent participation at the Arre Festival by reinterpreting one of her most famous children’s songs, “Sapito,” in a corrido tumbado.

During the musical event on September 7 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, the 35-year-old singer began her participation with the song “Cactus,” which became her return to music in January of this year, after years away from the industry.

After finishing this first song, the actress also decided to take a trip of nostalgia, but with a modern touch, by performing the song “Sapito”, the emblematic song of the television melodrama “Cómplices al Rescate” in a “lying down” version.

The above, logically, sparked an intense debate on social media after various videos were released that captured the new version of Belinda’s children’s classic.

What did people say about Belinda’s new version of “Sapito”?

After the video went viral, a large number of people did not hesitate to applaud Belinda’s action, mentioning her “courage” for reviving the song and giving it a “new look.” However, this did not prevent another large group of people from attacking the Latin artist, saying that she had ruined the song by “wanting” to connect with the current audience: “Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again,” “I want to fit in with the kids when I’m young,” “Noooo, how could she ruin a great song?”

The new version of her song “Sapito” is another reflection of the new stage in which the Mexican singer finds herself immersed. Since her announced return to music with her song “Cactus,” Christian Nodal’s ex-fiancée has based her releases on this subgenre of regional Mexican music.

Last April, the singer of “Boba Niña Nice” joined forces with singer Natanael Cano, known as one of the greatest exponents of corridos tumbados, to release the song “300 Noches,” which had a medium revival compared to her first song of the year.

Similarly, and just a few weeks ago, Belinda released her most recent song, “La Mala,” which, in addition to being framed again in the corridos tumbados, also became a strong criticism, according to the artist, of the attacks and accusations she has received in recent years after her breakup with Mexican singer Christian Nodal.

So far, the young artist has not clearly revealed her next projects, however, and taking into account the words at the end of her presentation at the Arre Festival, where she indicated that she is working on new songs, everything seems to indicate that the model will continue working under this musical style.
