After walking the red carpet at the premiere of the film “The Last Showgirl” at the Toronto Film Festival, with an obvious and radical physical change, actor and former professional wrestler Dave Bautista revealed that he decided to undergo this “transformation” because of his goal of “looking better on camera.”
During his most recent interview with content creator Chris Van Vliet, the 55-year-old actor mentioned that, in addition to losing weight for his role in the film “The Killer’s Game,” he followed this path because he felt very “uncomfortable” with the weight he gained in the movie “Knock at the Cabin.”
“I started losing weight because I got too big for a role, uncomfortably big. For ‘Knock at the Cabin’ I got a lot bigger. I was about 300 pounds… I gained weight really fast and I gained an uncomfortable amount of weight and it took me forever to lose it.”

In the same conversation, the actor from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” saga revealed that he also tried to get to a “lower” weight so as not to seem too “distracting” in front of his co-stars.
In addition to the above, she made it clear that her main intention is to lose weight in order to play a more diverse range of roles, in addition to feeling “better” in front of the camera.
The thinner I got, the better I looked on camera and the better I looked next to other actors. I’m still a big human being. I’m 6’4” and 230 pounds next to a typical actor, and I look like a gorilla and it’s distracting. I’ll probably lose a few more pounds. I’m killing myself to be this thin. I’m training hard.”
Prior to his recent appearance, the former WWE wrestler told the Daily Mail that he is at his lowest weight in his adult life. He even confessed that his current physical profile is the same as when he was 19 years old.
During his wrestling career and early days in the film industry, Bautista weighed around 131 kilos, with his maximum being 168 kilos.
However, despite having distinguished himself in recent years for his imposing physique and figure, the now American actor has revealed, in previous interviews, that his main objective is to become a great actor: “I never wanted to be the next ‘The Rock’. I wanted to be a good actor, a respected performer.
In his more than 15 years in the film industry, Bautista has collaborated with great creators such as M. Night Shyamalan, with “Knock at the Cabin”; Denis Villeneuve, with “Blade Runner 2049” and “Dune” and “Dune: Part Two”; Rian Johnson in “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”, among others.
