After the fourth installment of the “Bridget Jones” saga was confirmed in previous months, English actor Hugh Grant, who will reprise his role as Daniel Clever, has been the first to reveal some details about the plot and his own participation in the film.

During a recent interview with the specialized media Variety, the actor of “The Gentlemen” revealed, first of all, that he decided not to participate in the third film of the saga, “Bridget Jone’s Baby”, because he felt that his character did not fit.

Taking this into consideration, Grant revealed that he was very close to turning down his role in the upcoming installment, “Mad About the Boy.”

“I loved the script, it made me cry and I wanted to help with this project. But there is actually no role for Daniel Clever. They wanted him to be in it and in the end they did something that I didn’t like.”

Why did Hugh Grant decide to participate in the new “Bridget Jones” film?

Despite the above, and due to his “love” for the saga, Grant revealed that he rewrote some scenes of his character with the intention of giving him more weight in the saga, which were accepted by the filmmakers.

However, despite being one of the big stars of the original cast who will return for the fourth film, alongside Renée Zellweger, the British artist mentioned that his participation is smaller than expected.

It’s absolutely the best (‘Bridget Jones’ book), and I think the movie is very funny and very, very moving. I’m not there much, I worked for a week, that’s all… But when you see the movie, you’ll be very moved.”

So far, and after the confirmation of the film in previous months, the return of another of the great stars of the trilogy, Oscar winner Colin Firth, has not been revealed. Likewise, and regarding the plot of the fourth installment, it will be based on the novel of the same name, by the author Helen Fielding, where Bridget will be a mature single mother who is looking for love again.

Last June, it was revealed that filming for the movie, which will be released in February 2025, had wrapped after months of shooting. In addition to the return of Zellweger and Grant, actress Emma Thompson will also return, who will reprise her role as Bridget’s doctor in the third film, as well as the inclusion of other big stars such as Isla Fisher, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Leo Woodall, among others.
