Former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump says his plan to carry out the “largest deportation in U.S. history” will begin in the city of Springfield, Ohio, with Venezuela as the main destination.
In a press conference at his golf club in Palos Verdes, California, he said that this massive operation to expel migrants would be one of the pillars of his policy if he returns to the White House.
According to Trump, the plan would focus on deporting specific groups and he singled out Haitians as one of the most affected communities, Efe news agency reported.
The Republican candidate blamed them for disrupting the lifestyle of Springfield residents and repeated unsubstantiated claims about alleged involvement of Haitians in activities such as hunting cats and dogs in that city.
These statements have sparked a wave of threats against the Haitian community, which has faced bomb alerts in schools and official buildings, forcing local authorities to take additional security measures.
Donald Trump said his plan would involve intense coordination with law enforcement and immigration agencies, which would be responsible for carrying out deportations quickly and efficiently, with direct flights from the United States to Venezuela.
Although he did not offer details about the logistical process or diplomatic agreements with the South American country, the candidate made it clear that the operation would be “one of the fastest and most effective” in the country’s immigration history.
He did not forget his criticism of Kamala Harris
In addition, at the same press conference, he directed criticism at his Democratic rival Kamala Harris, whom he accused of contributing to the increase in human trafficking on the border with Mexico, Efe reports.
Although he did not present evidence, he pointed to the vice president as one of those primarily responsible for the current migration crisis due to her political decisions when she held key positions in California.
Trump’s focus on deportations and border control is part of a broader strategy to attract votes from those concerned about immigration. At the same time, he exploits economic measures such as eliminating taxes on overtime and tips to win over the working class.
