Martha Higareda reflected on her breakup with Cory Brusseau and the lessons she has learned over time. The actress admitted that, at the time, she prioritized her family over her relationship, which may have influenced her marriage. This act of awareness about her choices and priorities reveals not only her personal growth, but also her willingness to learn from difficult circumstances.
Through her testimony, Higareda has emphasized the importance of balancing the different aspects of life, noting that while love and relationships are fundamental, it is also essential to take care of oneself and family connections.
“I admit it, one of the biggest mistakes I made in my relationship with Cory was that, since I had such a close family, when he and I had a plan… it happened several times and I take responsibility… but my parents, especially my mom, would tell me: ‘I just bought plane tickets, I’m going to Los Angeles,’” she said on ‘De Todo un Mucho.’
“I didn’t tell my mom: ‘Great, Mom, obviously you’re always welcome. But number one, before anything else, let me know the next time you’re coming. Ask me: ‘What are your plans?’ I didn’t do that, and all my plans with my partner were cancelled because the one who took priority over my life at that moment was my family,” she added during the conversation on the podcast.
Her willingness to talk about such an intimate topic reflects a desire to share her personal journey and perhaps offer comfort to others in similar situations. Ultimately, experiences can prove to be valuable for the future, and Martha seems ready to move forward with new lessons in her heart.
“Now that you are married, it is important that your family is your husband, even if you don’t have children, that is your family. The other family has become, as the Americans say, your extended family,” said the Mexican actress.
