Toño Mauri has been an example of resilience and gratitude after receiving a double lung transplant three years ago. Despite the distance and the lack of a meeting with his donor’s family, he remains hopeful of being able to express his gratitude to them at some point. Although he understands and respects their decision not to establish contact for now, his feelings towards them are deeply sincere.

The actor gave an interview to the program ‘Venga la alegría’, where he expressed the great interest he has in being able to spend time with the relatives of the person who helped him stay alive: “It is my dream. Since I completed one year of my transplant, I had the opportunity to write a letter to my donor’s family to tell them how interested I was in meeting them.”

Furthermore, Mauri is committed to sharing his life story and overcoming, planning to make a film out of it and put it into a testimonial book. This not only reflects his desire to inspire others, but also his need to honor the memory of those who gave him a second chance. Without a doubt, his journey is a testimony of strength and gratitude that can resonate with many people in similar situations.

Toño also highlighted the possible reason why the family has not wanted to sit down and talk to him to date: “Sadly, it has not happened, but I also understand that there is a process, there is mourning and suddenly I think it must be difficult to see a person who, in some way, that being lives inside us.”

“I’ve been three and a half years since my transplant and it’s been wonderful. I’m practically back to my normal life. I’ve settled back into my work, my life, my travels,” she said, referring to how she has been feeling since then.

“I am preparing a film of my book so that I can make it into a movie, and I think it is very important because of all the issues that happened to me, organ donation, organ transplants, the experience of being in such a long coma,” he added.
