Saving money when shopping is always a good habit, as Michael Robert, consumer trends expert and senior technical contributor at GTA Boom, says. He says that as a child he used to be poor and shopped at Dollar Tree out of necessity, but now that he is financially better off, he still visits the store to buy some things at a good price.
MSN reported that when Robert was a child, his family did not have much money, so he learned from a young age to be resourceful and strategic with his purchases.
Things Michael Robert and other consumer experts continue to buy at Dollar Tree, even though they can afford other stores.
Seasonal decorations
Robert appreciates that the store sells reasonably priced decorations so you can stay festive for holidays like Halloween, Easter, and Christmas, among others: “Dollar Tree allows you to get really creative and festive without spending a fortune. (Their) selection is also huge, so you’re sure to find exactly the right pieces to match your vision.”
Decorative elements
Not only is Dollar Tree good for seasonal decorations, it also has pieces that can beautify your entertaining spaces year-round, such as vases, centerpieces, flowers and other items, without breaking the budget.
Greeting cards and wrapping paper
Cindy Ngo, founder of The Money Dreamer, says her parents were strict about how they spent their money: “I went to Dollar Tree a lot because the prices there were better than the other stores in my area.”
Today, Ngo still buys greeting cards and wrapping paper at Dollar Tree: “Dollar Tree cards are nice and only cost $1. Sometimes, I can buy two cards for just $1.”
Cleaning Supplies
Marin Cristian-Ovidiu, CEO of Online Games, said that when he was a kid, money was tight in the house, so cleaning products are what he still stocks to this day from the Dollar Tree store: “The range of all-purpose cleaners, sponges and brushes are not only cost effective, but they also rival higher-priced alternatives in terms of performance and quality.”
Kitchen items
“My kitchen is also stocked with the basics you can get at the store,” Cristian-Ovidiu said. “The storage solutions and utensils they offer are sturdy and functional, (which is) ideal for someone who enjoys cooking as much as I do.”
Bathroom Basics
Ovidiu also said she now prefers to buy her bathroom essentials at Dollar Tree, because they are reliable, affordable and have a large selection: “At Dollar Tree, you can get a 6-ounce tube of Ultra Brite toothpaste for just $1.25. You can stock up on toothpaste for months for the price you would pay for a tube of a name brand at Walmart.”
