Everything has its end. Nothing lasts forever. That’s what a legendary song says. Alexa Grasso discovered it last night during the UFC event. The Mexican lost by unanimous decision to Valentina Shevchenko.
Third time lucky for the Kyrgyz, who managed to regain the women’s flyweight title in Las Vegas. The trilogy came to an end with Shevchenko dominating the match and keeping the Mexican on the canvas.
How did the fight go?
In the first round, Shevchenko came out with the knife between her teeth. Her aggressiveness was reflected in the jabs that landed on the Mexican. She knocked her down, but was unable to sprawl and was forced to enter guard.
The Aztec fighter tried to counter with a kimura but was far from catching Shevchenko. She was always able to escape the holds. The fight reached the last round and everything seemed to indicate that there would be a comeback.
Grasso was able to execute the guillotine move, but the Kyrgyz was in her element. Not only was she able to unlock the lock, but she also landed a few blows to the Mexican’s ribs.
There were no surprises, no speculation. Valentina Shevchenko was the fair winner of a trilogy in which she had not been able to figure. Grasso had won twice. The first was when she won the championship, and the second was with a controversial draw to keep the belt.
